    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

    • Ability to drive safely and responsibly for 8 hours a day, with the majority of the time spent with guests. The foundation of our business is providing an experience where safety is prioritized.
    • Transport guests to and from our ATV site and their pickup locations.
    • Make sure all guests listed on manifest are accounted for and on the bus. If there are changes, quickly and effectively communicate the updates.
    • Be in constant communication with Tour Reps and Tour Managers via phone and text.
    • Knowledge about our tours and the trail area is crucial to your performance. Guests will ask questions, so your understanding of our product and the area is a necessity.
    • Required to perform walk-around and pre-trip inspection sheet.
    • Required to clean the inside and outside of your shuttle during and at the end of your shift.
    • It will be your responsibility to monitor and maintain your fuel level and report any maintenance concerns to the mechanics.
    • Other responsibilities include but are not limited to collecting Participation agreements and paperwork, transporting staff, courier duties, and light tour sales.

  • Transportation Driver 

    Salary: $20.00 Per Hour

    General Summary of Job Duties

    The Transportation Driver is responsible for transporting crews and captains and performing miscellaneous transportation tasks. Duties include but are not limited to, driving, coordinating, and communicating transport routes, occasional office activities, and other related services for the company as needed. This position works shifts including but not limited to late nights, early mornings, and weekend shifts. Safety, reliability, and communication are the keys to the success of this position. Due to the nature of this role, the Transportation Driver must work well with others and be very flexible as tasks constantly change throughout each shift.


    Specific Essential Job Duties

    • Provides on-call, safe, courteous, and timely transportation services for vessel crews and captains.
    • Picks up and drops off passengers and luggage in various locations within the dispatched areas, such as ports, airports, hotels, etc.
    • Communicates with dispatchers by phone or computer to receive requests for passenger service.
    • Maps out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trips.
    • Listens to traffic and weather reports to stay up to date on road conditions.
    • Abides by all federal, state, and local laws, including all transportation rules, guidelines, and safety regulations; ensures passengers also follow applicable safety regulations.
    • Submits accident reports accurately and timely when necessary.
    • Reports vehicle problems to management timely upon discovery.
    • Ensures all transportation vehicles are always in a safe working condition.
    • Ensures vehicle equipment such as brakes, lights, windshield wipers, etc., is maintained and operating properly.
    • Conducts routine maintenance on vehicles including adding gasoline, oil, and water and checking tire pressure; ensures more specialized maintenance and repairs are performed.
    • Maintains cleanliness of vehicle.
    • Performs other related duties as designated by management.


    Qualifications Required

    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age.
    • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
    • Class C endorsement preferred or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
    • Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) is highly preferred and must be obtained upon acceptance of position or within 30 days of hire.
    • Must be able to pass a Federal and State background screening.
    • Available after hours, on an on-call basis, as scheduled.
    • Must be able to work daily on call as needed, including some weekends, nights, holidays, etc.
    • Previous verifiable experience handling duties in the transportation business.
    • Strong customer service orientation.
    • Proven problem-solving skills.
    • First Aid skills or certificates are considered assets.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

    The Transportation Driver will spend a significant amount of time driving.     The Minnesota Veterans Home – Minneapolis is looking for a full-time Driver for our 53-acre campus. This position will provide transportation via handi-vans/passenger vehicles for up to 10 residents to and from medical facilities/appointments, deliver/transport packages, medical equipment, parcels between homes, buildings, and vendors.     Essential Functions

    Completes training and development classes as provided by the Director/Supervisor/Safety Officer.

    Organizes schedule to ensure passengers reach destinations at appointed times.

    Calls passengers with proposed pick up times for early morning appointments.

    Transports passenger safely and proficiently in all Transportation vehicles.

    Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of transport vehicles for mechanical and/or safety issues.

    Maintains a clean vehicle at all times.

    Provides accurate information about the County to the public and courteously answer questions.

    Resolves transit related passenger concerns and practice defensive driving habits.

    Interacts with the general public and all Union County Transportation passengers in a professional and courteous manner, regardless of the actions of the passengers.

    Assists in the boarding and alighting passengers with disabilities including the use of four point securing of wheel chairs and scooters and affixing of shoulder and lap belts.

    Operates technological devices such as GPS, smart tablets, and computers for data entry.

    Maintains knowledge of and strict adherence to all Union County Transportation operating rules, policies, regulations, and passenger guidelines.

    Conduct radio communications with other Union County Transportation vehicles and dispatch clearly.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience:

    High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED), and six (6) months of experience in public driving, chauffeuring, and/or scheduling; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Licenses or Certifications:

    Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to maintain a safe driving history as defined by the Union County Vehicle Use Policy.

    Work Hours

    Physical Demands

    Position functions in both an office setting and operating transit vans. The exertion level required for this position while performing office duties is generally considered light work. Physical requirements include stooping, bending, standing, squatting/crouching, pushing/pulling, and reaching above shoulders. While performing the duties of this job, employees are often required to sit, with regular periods of walking and standing; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; use vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally or a up to 10 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

    The exertion level for the position during operation of transit vans is considered medium work. Physical demands include:

    • Ability to sit without discomfort for prolonged periods of time on a variety of driver’s seats in different model vehicles.
    • Fit safely behind the steering wheel in such a manner that a safe clearance exists between the abdomen and the steering wheel.
    • Fit in the driver’s seat to safely operate the accelerator, brake pedals and floor signal switches
    • Constant and repetitive use of hands, arms, and fingers to grasp and push steering wheel and controls.
    • Turn head up to 180 degrees in either direction on a regular and frequent basis.
    • Walk and climb/descend steps to enter and exit a District vehicle.
    • Operate the various securement mechanisms to secure a wheelchair on a District vehicle.
    • Occasionally crouch, kneel, and bend to complete pre- and post-trip checks and to assist customers.
    • Position requires ability to talk and hear; use vision to read printed materials, signs, and monitor traffic, and dexterity to use equipment properly.
    • Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally or a up to 20 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

    Work Environment

    The work environment involves exposure to conditions generally found in an office setting within a shared workspace. The noise level is quiet to moderate. There are frequent interruptions to this position’s workflow with moderate foot traffic. There is an expectation to hold and attend meetings on a regular basis.

    During van operation, the employee will be confined to a driver’s seat and subject to varying noise levels and frequent interruptions. The District operates vehicles in service through various weather conditions at all hours of the day and night. Employee will be subject to high traffic, air and noise pollutants, vehicle contaminants, and temperature extremes.

    Additional Information

    • Work shifts vary from day to night, as needed. C-CARTS operates Monday through Friday, including holidays, and this position may require some work outside of traditional business hours.
    • All MTD employees are trained on the Management System Policy and the impacts associated with this position.
