    JOB SUMMARY

    This job is in the Delivery family (Department), which includes positions the duties of which are to administer, supervise, or perform work involving the planning, directing, or operating of transportation equipment and service, including positions involving responsibility for driving, loading, and coordinating delivery.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for operating commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating over 26,001 lbs. to deliver or pick up merchandise, materials, and equipment to assigned regional and/or local destination and/or customers in a timely fashion.
    • May be responsible for driving (regularly or periodically) and performing other safety-affecting activities on motor vehicles weighing 10,000 pounds or less in transportation on public highways in interstate or foreign commerce, excluding passenger or hazardous materials transportation vehicles.
    • Follows appropriate safety procedures for transporting goods including securement of cargo for transport (may include use of tarps).
    • Safely maneuvers trucks into loading or unloading positions.
    • Loads and unloads vehicles as required.
    • Performs daily vehicle inspections (as defined by the FMCSA) to ensure that the trucks are roadworthy and that safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
    • Records any inspection information or list of defects on the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) as required by the FMCSA.
    • Uses an electronic logging device (ELD) to log daily activities as required by the FMCSA.
    • Reports traffic incidents, including, traffic accidents and violations, or damage to the vehicles to supervisory staff.
    • Reads bills of lading and manifests to determine assignment details.
    • Checks all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate and obtains receipts or signatures for delivered goods or collects payment for services when required.
    • Responsible for adhering to safety processes and protocols.

    REQUIREDPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience with relevant cargo required.
    • High School diploma/GED required.
    • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) per assigned vehicle type required.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Purpose of Position:

    Under supervision, operates motor vehicles and equipment such as passenger cars, ambulances, hearses, trucks, wreckers, forklifts, tractor-trailer trucks and sign-erecting trucks used by City departments.     Duties

    The Pacific West Region is recruiting for TEMPORARY seasonal positions not to exceed 1039 hours work in a service year. Dates of employment will vary between sites depending on funding, weather conditions and visitation. Within regulatory limitations, the length of initial appointment may be shortened or extended depending on work availability and funding.

    Operates one or more motor vehicles including straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more the 32,000 pounds, or truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers. Some of the vehicles operated may have manual transmissions with from four to ten forward gears and high and low auxiliary transmission. Operates these vehicles on interstate highways, winding roads, and steep grades and manipulates the dual braking system (if vehicle is equipped with this type of brake system) to prevent the semi-trailer or trailer from jackknifing. Maneuvers vehicles operated within close tolerances when driving and backing over uneven ground and in narrow or congested areas, and between buildings and other vehicles.     Working Conditions: Majority of the work is performed outdoors where incumbent will be exposed to rain, fog, and extreme hot and cold temperatures. Required to operate equipment in all types of weather conditions and on a variety of road surfaces.     RESPONSIBILITES include, but are not limited to:

    • Assist in all outgoing and incoming products for accuracy in terms of size, amount and type.
    • Ensure all administrative paperwork concerning delivery orders required to move with shipments is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies delivery.
    • Maintain professional representation in all interactions with customers.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Drive a DS Logistics vehicle along your assigned route
    • Pick up lightweight cardboard materials (not trash) from commercial recycling bins

  • Driver/Warehouse Associate

    Salary: $32K – $41K

    RESPONSIBILITES include, but are not limited to:

    • Assist in all outgoing and incoming products for accuracy in terms of size, amount and type.
    • Ensure all administrative paperwork concerning delivery orders required to move with shipments is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies delivery.
    • Maintain professional representation in all interactions with customers.
    • Operate powered industrial vehicles (forklift, pallet jacks, order pickers, etc.).
    • Driving medium to heavy weight trucks short and medium distances to deliver our display and video equipment to customers in compliance with all Company safety policies and state and federal transportation regulations.
    • Always practice responsible driving, no texting, or use of cell phones while driving.
    • Comply with state and federal regulations, including driver’s logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records and other records required by law and Company policy.
    • Abide by all safety procedures and programs.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Ability to maintain flexible attitude and approach toward assignments
    • Project businesslike manner and appearance
    • Ability to establish and maintain professional and cooperative relationships during work
    • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and mental ability to handle receipts, read maps, road signs, maintain logs, etc.
    • Able to lift 50 pounds, load and unload trucks
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, MS Outlook, Windows
    • Must have good written and verbal communication
    • Possess working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems
    • Ability to handle receipts, read maps, road signs, maintain logs, etc.
    • Ability to apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather or in tight loading areas
    • Knowledge of electrical power and audio-visual equipment is a plus
    • Basic computer skills required. Inventory management software knowledge is a bonus
    • The ideal candidate is self-motivated and can work productively with light supervision

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Must be 21 years of age and possess valid driver license or such other proper license classification as required by the DOT in conjunction with vehicle weight
    • Must have clean motor vehicle report and criminal report
    • The Company, in its discretion, may find appropriate and acceptable alternatives to the above qualifications
