    JOB
    Performs all activities required to safely drive a passenger vehicle transporting students and other authorized personnel to and from schools and school-related events. Tasks performed may vary but are specific and routine based on the hours worked. Work performed is done under supervision; judgment is required. Performs related duties as required or assigned.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
    Provides safe transport of students on an assigned route according to a definite time schedule, which may require driving during pre-daylight and dusk periods. Performs vehicle pre-trip inspections, including but not limited to, fuel, oil, water, lights, brakes, and steering. Operates vehicles in compliance with all traffic and safety laws and regulations. Exhibits defensive driving habits and observing posted speed limits. Chain-of-custody for unsupervised students under certain conditions. Assists students getting into and out of the vehicle if necessary. Keeps records of vehicle mileage and the number of passengers transported. Maintains a clean and orderly vehicle. Adapts driving methods to weather and road conditions. Performs basic First Aid and CPR procedures as required. Performs other related duties. Budgetary Responsibility: N/A Report Preparation: Completes and submits monthly and weekly reports that include, but are not limited to, pre-trip inspection forms, mileage, student attendance, maintenance defect reports, student conduct referrals, vandalism and injury reports and other reports submitted periodically, or as needed. Equipment Operation: Daily use and operation of a county vehicle and equipment for fueling the vehicle. Contacts: Transportation supervisor, coordinators and office manager-daily regarding revisions to routes and stops, or student changes. Police, fire or rescue personnel, school administrators, teachers, parents or other student transportation personnel–periodically regarding incidents, accidents or at the direction of the supervisor.Work Direction/Supervision: Provides direction to the school bus/vehicle attendant assigned to the car and has responsibility for a particular student. Works under general supervision. Decision Making: Makes independent decisions as needed to transport students; makes decisions within the guidelines of the school division’s Code of Conduct related to inappropriate student behavior. Formal Policy-Setting Responsibilities: N/A Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; reach with hands and arms, stand, balance, walk and smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: The employee regularly performs work in a moving vehicle and is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud and the employee is exposed to environmental and health factors associated with transporting students.

    Must be at least 21 years of age and have at least three years of driving experience with a good driving record that does not reflect more than -6 points within the last 24 months. Successful completion of a driver training course to include Defensive Driving and driving skills test, First Aid, CPR, AED, and auto-injectable epinephrine training (EpiPen); meet physical qualifications for school drivers; and FBI fingerprint background investigation.     Salary: $22.77 – $30.74 Per Hour 

    Job Summary:

    Transports City of Loveland residents, which includes seniors, persons with disabilities, general public, and students in a skillful, caring, responsible and safe manner. This position reports to the Operations Supervisor.

    The work schedule for this position is varying hours and includes early mornings, late evenings, holidays, special assignments and events

    The salary range for this position is $22.77- $30.74 per hour with a hiring range of $22.77 – $26.76, depending on qualifications and experience. This opportunity will be remain open until filled.

    This is a 35 hour per week benefitted position.

    Essential Functions:

    • Provides superior customer service to a diverse population of clients.
    • Safely transports passengers either in transit or paratransit vehicles.
    • Assures all passengers are treated in a respectful, friendly manner, while encouraging a safe environment.
    • Daily performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and records the results on the Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR).
    • Communicates any vehicle deficiency to the Operations Supervisor.

    Other Job Functions:

    • May be assigned to bus cleaning rotation which consists of moving buses into the shop facility, loose item collection, exterior window cleaning (time permitting), exterior mirror cleaning and running the bus through the bus wash (weather permitting).
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Required Education:

    • High School Graduate or GED.

    Preferred Education:

    • Training in Passenger Assistance Techniques, including sensitivity training for persons with disabilities, drug and alcohol awareness and defensive driving desired.

    Preferred Experience:

    • Some experience related to transporting passengers and/or working with the disabled is highly desirable.

    Certifications:

    • A valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) with P passenger endorsement and no air brake restrictions required.
      • Possession of a Class B CDL learner’s permit prior to start date, with the ability to obtain a class B CDL with a P passenger endorsement within two (2) months of hire date may substitute. COLT will provide necessary training to obtain Class B CDL with passenger endorsement.
    • Must possess current CPR and First Aid certification, or have ability to obtain certifications within six (6) months of hire date.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Superior customer service skills.
    • Make sound judgments and exhibit patience when dealing with stressful situations.

    • Transport passengers to predetermined fixed route stops and scheduled paratransit locations; assist passengers in getting on and off transit vehicles; ability to safely operate a wheelchair lift.
    • Complete daily tasks including inspection of vehicles to verify that the vehicle is functioning properly.
    • Make recommendations on vehicle maintenance as required; operate a two-way radio and use proper radio communications.

    Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

    • Frequent minimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. Primarily sedentary, may occasionally lift and carry light objects. Walking and/or standing as needed and minimal.
    • Frequent exposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
    • Occasional exposure to hazards typically found in general office environments where there is rarely to no exposure to injury or accident.

    What You’ll Do

    • Safely operate buses and other vehicles to transport participants between homes, medical facilities, and the Day Center.
    • Assist with gurney, wheelchair, and ambulatory transfers including lifting and supporting participants and their medical equipment.

  • Public Safety Shuttle Van Driver

    Salary: $32K – $45K

    We are seeking a reliable and responsible part-time Van Shuttle Driver to transport students to and from various campus locations during weekend evenings. The ideal candidate will ensure the safety, comfort, and timely transport of students while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Safely operate a college van/shuttle along designated routes.
    • Pick up and drop off students at specified locations on and around campus.
    • Student and luggage shuttles to and from the airport as needed before/after academic breaks and athletic travel.
    • Ensure the vehicle is in good working condition, report any maintenance issues, and complete pre- and post-trip inspections.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe duties listed below include, but are not limited to, the various types of work that may be performed by individuals in this classification. Any of the following duties may be performed.     8. Perform “Safety Sensitive” duties, per Federal Transit Administration (FTA) guidelines. Safety sensitive employees must participate and remain in compliance with the FTA Drug and Alcohol testing program, including pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident testing.

    9. Report any bus or passenger issues, concerns or accidents to supervisor without delay.

    MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education & Experience:

    Licenses & Certificates:
