Salary: $28.73 – $33.48 Per Hour
Duties
The major duties of the Motor Vehicle Operator position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Operates one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, specialty pumping equipment, and trash removal trucks. Operates trash packer to include operation of all controls for compressing truck contents and unloading at commercial dump facility.
- Operates vehicles with a gross vehicle weight up to 32,000 pounds. Operates vehicles over rough terrain, in close quarters, and in heavy traffic on both long and short hauls.
- Performs operator maintenance on all vehicles operated (e.g., monitoring fluid levels, replacing air filters and interior lights, checking tire pressure and hose connections, and washing the vehicle).
- Performs semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance, repair, and janitorial work in and on various unit buildings.
- Does manual labor tasks, such as digging, pulling, cleaning drainage ditches, lifting and emptying trash containers, cleaning rest rooms, picking up litter, cleaning picnic grills, etc., works roads and trails in connection with raking and graveling.

- Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
- You must possess and maintain a current Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver’s License.
- You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1 night per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
- Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
- Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in heavy urban traffic.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
