GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to drive a light vehicle to pick up and deliver library books and materials to designated locations as scheduled. This position is responsible for the safe operation of a county vehicle, reporting any issues to vehicle maintenance, and assists in bringing donated items back to the headquarters library for processing. This position is responsible for loading and unloading the transport vehicle, and may be required to perform other courier tasks to address other business concerns. May also be required to provide some assistance with light circulation duties, assists with marketing and publicity, occasionally assist patrons at public service points, and provide other assistance with coverage of branches as needed.

- Performs all functions of the usual courier route on weekdays, including (but not limited to) loading and unloading books and materials, counting and certifying daily cash deposits, entering restricted areas in county buildings, and transferring confidential information between offices.
- Maintains order in Shipping Room and basement work area at the Walhalla Library.
- Arranges routine maintenance and repair of light vehicles assigned to the library system.
- Becomes familiar with and is able to use the library circulation software, and be comfortable dealing with the public.
- Transports and delivers library materials to the OCPL branches and interdepartmental mail to Walhalla High School, Tamassee Salem Elementary School, Keowee Elementary School, and High Falls County Park.
- Transports donations to the Walhalla Library for their book sales.
- Performs circulation duties, as needed by the circulation manager and circulation staff.
- Assists the Bookmobile manager with tasks, as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent, and one (1) year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Library experience preferred
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
Required: Valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record.
Preferred: None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
This position has the following special vision requirements: close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down and to the left and right when vision is fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
