    Summary
    Driving and operating of a specific service vehicle (tow trucks, battery service vehicles/light service vehicles), and operating towing equipment for AAA members and for commercial purposes. Performing simple diagnostics/troubleshooting on vehicles. Providing an outstanding customer service experience.

    This will be for swing shift including working both weekend days.


    Essential Functions

    • Driving and operating a service vehicle (i.e. flat tire changes, lock-out, fuel delivery services, etc.)
    • On-scene time interacting with customer/establishing rapport, building relationships, trust and problem solving
    • Leverages sales skills for offering products and services from AAA to member during service interaction
    • Utilizing on-board computer, radio communications, and mapping systems
    • Completion of daily paperwork (i.e. call-logs, battery invoices, cash receipts, etc.)


    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

    • Clear and proficient verbal and written communication even under pressure
    • Common knowledge of vehicle components and the common reasons for vehicle failure

Vehicle recovery sites may be wet, messy and hazardous. Service Providers are required to provide a photograph for identification purposes.

    Performs all activities required to safely drive a passenger vehicle transporting students and other authorized personnel to and from schools and school-related events.     Provides safe transport of students on an assigned route according to a definite time schedule, which may require driving during pre-daylight and dusk periods.     Major Responsibilities and Duties: Vehicle Operation

    • Drive bus daily following assigned route and adhering to established schedules.
    • Drive bus to and from extracurricular activities.
    • Anticipate problems such as traffic, weather, road conditions, and schedule changes and make necessary adjustments to ensure student safety and reduce delays.
    • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections according to specifications to ensure bus can be operated safely and notify supervisor of needed repairs. Keep assigned bus clean and maintain appropriate level of fuel.
    • Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical problems and complete required corresponding reports.

    Student Management

    • Instruct students on safe entering, exiting, and passenger rules and regulations. Supervise students while they board and leave the bus and cross the street.

    • Maintain discipline and use effective behavior management control over groups of students. Report student discipline problems to appropriate administrator and communicate with teachers and parents regarding student’s behavior when warranted.

    • Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crowbar, and reflector.
    • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor. Report any hazardous conditions along scheduled route.
    • Install snow chains during inclement weather.
    • Maintain safety certification.
    • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

    • Operate and monitor two-way radio equipment to communicate with transportation office and other drivers.

    Summary:

    Drive a light vehicle, such as a truck, with a capacity of less than 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), primarily to deliver or pick up tires. Delivery routes are “until done”, which means shift end time will vary from day to day. May load and unload vehicles; as well as other duties assigned by the manager.
