Position Summary
Provides bus transportation services for University employees, students, and visitors including special events and park-and-ride operations, athletic road trips, ensuring transportation system and passenger safety. Monitors equipment and performs limited maintenance. Provides information and public affairs services.
Job Responsibilities
- Drives a university-owned vehicle (bus, van, other passenger vehicles) providing safe and efficient transportation to the university community and its visitors.
- Performs routine vehicle inspection and maintenance including checking the oil, fuel, brakes, lights, windshield wipers, and water and tire pressures.
- Maintains records of work performed; makes timely reports of accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences.
- Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and overnight assignments.
- Provides information and other general assistance to the university community and its visitors.
Qualifications
- Requires a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and overnight assignments.
- Must have a valid Texas CDL Class A or B license.
- Passenger and air brake endorsements
- Minimum of 1 year experience operating large passenger buses (40 foot or greater).
- Experience working in a scheduled transportation system.
- As a CDL driver, the employee will be required to comply with all provisions of DOT Regulation 49 CFR Parts 40 and 382, including random drug and alcohol testing.
