NEMT Vehicle Driver

Salary: $16 – $20 per hour

Universal Essential Functions:

  • Be familiar with and adhere to the Battle Buddy Mobility Transport, LLC policies and performance standards.
  • Pass annual criminal background checks.
  • Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with all staff and clients, to include respect for culture, diversity, and ethnicity.
  • Attend training, planning and regular meetings as needed/required.
  • Foster communication among staff to promote strong, supportive teams and resolve conflict in an appropriate problem-solving manner.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete written reports as required by position.
  • Knowledge of computer software programs (Route Genie, Square)

General Essential Functions:

  • Follow pre-assigned route and adhere to established schedules.
  • Move clients in wheelchairs, secure wheelchairs into vehicle in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintain a safe environment for employees and clients.
  • Check vehicle for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notify supervisor of needed repairs.
  • Report ALL accidents, vehicle damage, client injuries, and mechanical failures. Complete required reports.
  • Keep records of vehicle mileage, gas and oil consumption, and number of passengers transported.
  • Keep assigned vehicle clean and fueled.
  • Comply with company PHI and HIPPA policies.
  • Ability to complete required vehicle driver safety training.

Position Specific Essential Functions:

  • Supervise clients while they board the vehicle.
  • Possess ability to manage client behavior.
  • Maintain discipline, report client problems to appropriate manager.
  • Keep informed of and ensure compliance with all driving rules.
  • Instruct clients on safe riding rules and regulations.
  • Always ensure the safety of all passengers.
  • Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Inspect fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and steering before driving.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately.
  • Work irregular hours as needed, including weekends and holidays.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Michigan Chauffer’s driver’s license.

5 years of experience driving.

  • Must be 23 years of age.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicle in accordance with state laws.
  • Ability to pass alcohol or drug test.
  • Ability to complete required vehicle driver safety training.
