About the Opportunity:
As a Shuttle Driver, you will provide safe, reliable transportation for employees, legislators, visitors, and equipment throughout the Washington State Capitol Campus and surrounding area. You will operate a variety of light-duty vehicles, maintain shuttle cleanliness and fuel levels, support parking enforcement by reporting violations, and ensure accurate daily documentation through computer entries and written logs. This role also includes assisting with general departmental needs and performing other duties as assigned.
Duties
Some of What You’ll Enjoy Doing Includes:
- Transport employees, legislators, visitors, and equipment around the Capitol Campus using light-duty trucks, passenger vans, and other shuttle vehicles.
- Safely operate and maneuver all assigned vehicles in a variety of campus settings.
- Clean, inspect, and maintain shuttle vehicles, including interior/exterior cleaning and fueling per DES procedures.
- Support parking enforcement by reporting vehicles that violate parking policies.
- Use computers and written logs daily to record times, passenger counts, and shift activities.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license, free from serious traffic violations.
- Ability to read and write in English, and perform work outdoors.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to interact positively with a diverse population of customers and co-workers.
- Flexibility to work varied days and nights.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One (1) year of experience operating small, light-duty trucks and vans safely and skillfully.
- Ability to transport and assist passengers in vehicles of fourteen (14) people or fewer.
- Knowledge of rules for safe operation and equipment, state motor vehicle laws, and the rules governing the operation of state equipment, methods, tools, and materials used in service and maintaining equipment.
